Strange Encounters

"I've always been interested in hair - in a hairdresser kinda way, not a creepy serial killer kinda way that collects and stores their victims' hair in a shelf organizer separated by colour and/or waviness or lack thereof."A romcom story about a Swiss hairdresser who has a strange encounter on the train back home and gets to meet a guy with really nice hair. What ensues is a rather strange 12 hours long train ride.My latest obsession that I'll probably work on first because I think it's the genre I'll have least trouble with. Stardust (working title)

"Thank you for finding me even though I'm such a small constellation."A romance novel about helping each other move on from the past, enjoy the present and look towards the future. Filled to the brim with themes of stars, constellations, astronomy etc.It's a story I've been teasing here and there and I've told to plenty of my friends already. It's very dear to my heart and I cannot express how much I love the characters and how much I think about them on a daily basis.The setting is a modern day Shibuya, Tokyo. The two protagonists meet each other on a chance encounter, get to know each other, become friends and learn to love each other and themselves.

The Protagonists

Seo Moon-cheol, just called Moon by most people, has had a difficult childhood due to just living with his dad, who didn't wanna have him in the first place.He spent most of his time growing up wandering around the city and spending as little time as possible at home.

When he finished high school he half moved out, half was kicked out and started living on his own.Moon's got kind of a carefree "whatever" attitude, roaming around life, not knowing what he wants to do. He's given up on his childhood dream of becoming an astronomer.But he's complacent with his current life nonetheless, taking odd jobs here and there to keep him afloat (currently working at a boba store).He lives life day by day, in the present.

Sun Chaoxiang's mother is the president of a big company and an important bigshot name and he has had a very strict upbringing because of it.The classic textbook "you have to study all the time to become someone worthy"-sort of mentality, so he's just kinda tired of it all.

Chao is kind and always tries to make everyone feel good, because that's what he's been told to do when growing up.He's always loved painting and swimming (to the point of taking part in competitive swimming in his childhood), but had to give up on painting because being an artist "is no real job", so he's currently studying architecture.The scar on his face he got one day when his mother got "a bit" too angry at him for something he said and she ended up throwing a flower vase at him.Even though it scares him, Chao always thinks about the future, believing he has to do anything he can to fulfil his mother's wishes.

Plot

It starts with Moon walking around Shibuya's Scramble Crossing at night. He looks up to see if there are any clouds, wanting to go stargazing somewhere.Despite giving up on his aspirations to study astronomy, he still enjoys learning more about stars and space as a hobby.As he's looking skyward, he squints at something that is slowly floating down from the sky. It falls to his feet and he notices that it's a star shaped charm.He picks it up and goes "Whoa, a shooting star?" asking himself if his wish is going to come true now. He puts the charm away into a pocket and continues walking.The scene changes to Chao in his mother's hotel room. She's staying in a hotel in a skyscraper, by Scramble Crossing, for a business trip.She also uses the opportunity to visis Chao while he is studying at a renowned private university in Shibuya. But they're having an argument over a minor issue.Then, at one point, Chao takes out a little star shaped charm. He uses it to calm himself down whenever he gets anxious. But seeing that "stupid thing", as his mother calls it, makes her even angrierShe grabs the charm out of Chao's hands, walks towards one of the windows and just chucks it down to the streets.In a panic, Chao runs out of the hotel and hurries down to the crossing, but by the time he arrives, the charm is nowhere to be seen.Little does he know that he will soon get his charm back by pure chance, while also experiencing the chance encounter of a lifetime.

Concept

Aside from all the themes and topics I've mentioned so far, the story will also have a concept of past, present and future.Both Moon and Chao want to forget/move on from the past. Moon lives in the present, chao thinks about the future.But as they get to know each other, Chao learns to live in and enjoy the now, while Moon rediscovers his courage to think about what is yet to come.Chao is scared of the future, but Moon is too.
Moon is scared because he doesnt know what it holds, what he'll do, because it's uncertain.
Chao is scared because he knows what is supposed to come, what is expected to him.So together they'll overcome their past, enjoy the present and get ready to tackle the future.

The other characters

Meet Jesse Yuki Lewis, aka. JYL.They own the boba store Moon works at. They're very loud and colourful, does and says whatever they want and will fight you about the most trivial things in existence.

A bit of a gambling addict, but nothing they wouldn't be able to handle.Constantly tries to come up with new boba recipes, though Moon (and customers) always tell them how bad those sound.Jesse's a huge kpop fan and always blasts it in the store. If you're not careful they'll end up talking about their favourite groups for hours.

Tsubasa Dias, half-brazilian, plays the bass in a visual kei band.Despite being the youngest of the group he's definitely the most mature and often very tired due to the others' antics.

He's rather calm but as soon as he gets on stage and into his persona of an oni he can act very wild, sometimes even surprising Moon and Jesse, who he's good friends with.Often helps out in other bands while composing songs on the side, dreaming of going solo someday in the future.

Hu Fangquan, stage name FYNN, is part of a quite popular kpop group (which Jesse coincidentally happens to be a big fan of).

He's also Chao's childhood friend from back when they lived in China. Unfortunately, they hadn't been able to keep in contact for a while because they were both busy, though Fangquan already has plans to change that.One day Jesse finds out that Chao is friends with The Fynn and loses it a bit, begging to let them meet the idol.Fangquan is a bit narcissistic and very self-confident, always playing the prince-type of character on stage. His specialty is dancing.

Noblesse Oblige (working title)

A near-future urban fantasy story with three protagonists and eventual polyamorous romance between them.Yes, this is the revamped version of the story I had been teasing on my writing account that I never use (shocker). But this version is way cooler.The setting is an urban fantasy world in which it's always winter, they don't know the concept of seasons. I've put a shit ton of thought and care into the world and the lore so you will look at it.And then also look at the characters.

The world of Kalon Ylis consists of four continents: Gofodim, Haulun, Lleaudwy and Serentri.And on those four continents you can find eight different nations: Haulun, Ferrellica, Moonrise Kingdom, Gofodim, Astralane, East Fjórlen, Bakkland and Qanaq.It's a world of eternal winter. Climate does change somewhat, there's tundras, ice desserts, snowy forests, etc.

Belief of the Frozen Dogma

The people of Kalon Ylis believe in an afterlife.The world of the living is called "The Frozen Realm"; living people are "Frozen". The afterlife is called "The Molten Realm" and is inhabited by the "Molten"; imagine them as something like ghosts.The Molten Realm exists parallel to the Frozen Realm. The Molten wander around the world, but the Frozen can neither see nor interact with them. Once you die and melt (figuratively), you have two possible outcomes:If you melt with regrets, you're stuck as a Molten. Bound to forever wander the world with nothing but other Molten and never able to interact with the living world. But if you have no regrets, you can evaporate (what they call ascending to heaven) and fall back to the world as snow, therefore keep up the eternal winter.Because the belief says, that once winter is over, the end of the world is upon them.

The Royal Families

One tiny bit of information that the normal public doesn't know and isn't told about: members of the royal families can see the Molten.If a person with royal blood holds a specific gem (which differs for every family), they can see and even communicate with the Molten.However, it is strictly prohibited for anyone to come into contact with the Molten. Royalty has the duty to maintain the natural order of the world and who knows what might happen if a Molten ends up using a Frozen.

Ice Magic

Every Frozen and Molten can use magic to some extent, but the only type of magic is ice/snow magic, though it can manifest in many different ways.For Frozen, public use of magic however can be punished. Only the royal families and those blessed by them are allowed to freely use their magic.Just as Molten cannot be seen by Frozen under normal circumstances, so is their magic invisible to them and does not affect the Frozen Realm.

The Characters

As mentioned before, there are three main protagonists. Each of them will start a journey on their own before meeting each other and continue as one group.

This is Eljin Antares, the bratty prince of Astralane and the first protagonist. He's 18 and attends the Royal Academy in the capital city of Stellaveil.His parents are not only the King and Queen but also the two leading scientists of the International Institution of Research, located in the heart of the city.He's currently struggling with not falling asleep as his personal mentor and bodyguard Atlas tries to teach him the history of the world.Magic type: makes sharp and pointy ice flowers grow in a certain radius around him

Atlas Mendelsson is Eljin's mentor and bodyguard, as well as something like a big brother as he was most involved with the prince's upbringing.He's kind yet stern, always trying to teach Eljin new things so he can grow every day. Even if Eljin doesn't understand why he has to know about so many things.One of Atlas' common phrases is "Don't forget your duties as royalty" as he reminds the prince of his obligations to the people.Magic type: creates floating stars of ice that can reflect light

Conceited, proud and a smartass: the Fifth Prince of the Moonrise Kingdom and the second protagonist, Quincy Altalune. Being only the fifth-born, he doesn't have to worry about the throne heir dispute.His status as a smartass is unfortunately(?) justified, as he has read every single book of the royal library and has yet to meet someone smarter than him.One day, as he is perusing the library, he finds a rather old looking book he has never seen before. His eyes widen in shock as he studies its secret contents.Magic type: creates any inanimate object that he knows out of ice

Kama Thibaut's job is to look and clean up after Quincy and all the various messes he leaves behind, figuratively and realistically.Many say she has the patience of a saint, having to deal with the fifth prince all the time, but that is only because they haven't experienced how she reprimands Quincy when she's had enough.She's an excellent fighter, master of many martial arts and will not hesitate to absolutely kick your butt if you try to do anything to the prince. Because despite everything, she cares for him like he's family.Magic type: ice sword that freezes anything it touches

With the naiveté and innocence of never having stepped outside of his village, Taner Anvindr, the third protagonist, is ready to start his journey.Having just passed the rite of passage to adulthood with his twin brother, the two set out on their travel to the other side of the world.Once you turn 21 in Haulun, the mayor of the village tells you the truth of the world. The truth that they may never tell to any outsiders, unless they want Haulun to be doomed.Magic type: summons a blizzard that lowers visibility

Similar to his twin brother, Altan Anvindr is full of zest for adventure and cannot wait to explore the outside world.He has heard many stories about what would await him once he gets to go on his journey, and now that the time is finally upon him, he cannot even fall asleep the night before their departure.He didn't know anything about the truth either, it seems the adults have a rule that forbids them from talking about it to the children until they're mature enough to handle it.Magic type: summons a hail storm that hits everything in front of him

Darren Torann is the keeper of the Endalok Lighthouse in East Fjórlen, situated in the eastern-most point of Kalon Ylis.Despite his friendly, approachable and open demeanour he rarely lets anyone into the lighthouse, much less climb it to the light at the top. He's always seen smiling, but his eyes seem sad.He's been living on his own ever since his little brother passed away a while ago. He never talks about him anymore and will change the subject if it ever comes up.Magic type: creates impenetrable walls and domes of ice

Keethan Torann, Darren's little brother, currently a Molten and unable to move on. His brother doesn't know that he's still there by his side.He died in a tragic accident and is convinced that his brother is blaming himself for it, which is why he will remain a Molten until he's sure that Darren can come to peace and move on himself.He was a boy that loved music above anything else. Listening, creating, anything. For some reason, his headphones melted with him and now loop the last song he had listened to as a Frozen: Darren's favourite song.Magic type: creates a baton of ice with which he can control snow and ice to a certain degree

As the only child of Ferrellica's Prime Minister, Chiara Furlan is well-versed in the political relationships of the world. She lives in Deus Llyn, capital of the theocracy and headquarters of the "Frozen Dogma".Having grown up surrounded by direct members of the belief, it's not surprising that she herself became quite devoted as well.While essentially everyone on Kalon Ylis believes, only a minority participate in the daily rites that help live their best lives and will allow them to melt and evaporate without any regrets.Magic type: freezes any liquid

A Molten child aimlessly wandering around the Crystal Desert of Qanaq. She doesn't have any memories of how she got there.While she doesn't even remember her name, she doesn't seem very bothered by it.Whenever she tries to leave the desert, she gets scared at everything that awaits outside. She may not have any memories of her time as a Frozen, but something about the world outside of Qanaq makes her uncomfortable.Magic type: unknown

Facing reality

The first chapter ends with Stellaveil being attacked by forces of the Moonrise Kingdom. They come to take over the capital, which makes the royal family their primary targets. Atlas reacts quickly and escapes with Eljin, knowing that the king and queen are more or less safe for the moment.The two leave the city eastward and hide in the Alabaster Weald. Thinking themselves safe, it doesn't take long until some soldiers find and surround them. Their only mission is to capture the prince and manage to underhandedly attack Atlas as he protects Eljin.As Atlas dies in Eljin's arms, his emotions go haywire and the grief and anger he's feeling create a garden of deadly ice flowers that surrounds the two, taking out all the soldiers.Before he can even register what has happened, a Molten Atlas is standing before him and apologising for not being able to properly protect Eljin. He vows to not leave the prince's side until he's safe.With a heavy heart, Eljin burries the body under some snow and the two continue to the east until they find an abandoned hut. Eljin breaks down crying on the bed, tightly hugging Atlas' sheathed sword and clasping onto Atlas' bracelet.

Uncovering the secret

Quincy's introductory chapter ends with him going to the library to escape another discussion with his older siblings. He tasks Kama with guarding the entrance and to not let anyone in unless it's absolutely necessary.His siblings often argue about the rightful heir to the throne, but today's dispute was about their father's recent decission to attack Astralane in order to further grow their kingdom. No one knows what the king and queen are researching behind closed doors, but Quincy's father is convinced that it's nothing good.Quincy walks towards the section with picture books, which he had already read when he was five, but because the shipping of new books for the month hasn't arrived yet, he decides to reread some of those instead.By pure chance he finds a thin booklet behind a row of neatly arranged books. He grabs the dusty and very old looking book and raises an eyebrow. The cover reads "The Four Seasons".Surprised that he encountered a word he doesn't know, he starts reading and is both awestruck and utterly confused. Why did none of all the other thousands of books ever mention what this little picture book described? What are the seaons?

Learning the truth

Taner and Altan are over the moon to finally participate in their village's rite of passage. Many years have they been fantasizing about the world outside of their small island nation of Haulun.Turning 21 in Haulun meant going on a journey to Tanax, the southern-most settlement of Kalon Ylis, located in southern Qanaq. If they manage to return to Sdax within a month, they're recognized as proper citizens of Haulun.The biggest challenge lies in keeping the truth that they're told in the rite to themselves. They are never to speak about it to anyone during their travels. It must stay within the people of Haulun.Taner and Altan start their journey having no intention to tell anyone, yet struggle a lot with coming to terms with it. The world as they know it would change completely if others were to hear about the truth. But the more they experience the world and encounter other people, the more the two wonder how the world could change.

The Kingdom of Astralane

Stellaveil is the capital of Astralane. It is situated by the confluence of the two rivers that flow through Alabaster Weald, the snowy forest of fir trees that takes up the majority of the kingdom.Astralane is separated from East Fjórlen by the mountain range called Seren's Spine. Towering over all the mountains is the Frozen Abyss, an inactive volcano with a caldera filled with liquid nitrogen.Points of interest include:

Moonrise Kingdom

The capital of the kingdom is divided into West Whitecape on the continent of Lleaudwy and East Whitecape on Serentri. They are currently trying to expand their reach on Serentri.Most of the kingdom is covered in tundra and taiga, the further south you go on Serentri, the less bushes and shrubs can be seen as you approach the Crystal Desert of Qanaq.Points of interest include:

Butterfly Effect

This is, technically, not only an idea but it kind of already has 20 chapters written out.It's a story set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans evolved to have cat ears and tails Because Evolution And Science™. It all began with a simple tweet and my inability to not come up with OCs when the slightest opportunity to do so arises.

And now we have a server, an incorrect quotes account, lots of lore, many many artworks and several lyric videos.They even have a wholeass rival group too with lots of drama. Ashen World

This started as a fic idea for D.Gray-man when I was catching up to the manga years ago.It basically asks the question "what if Allen and co. lost against the Millenium Earl?" and focuses on an apocalyptic world that is about to be completely destroyed by the akuma.It follows descendants of the main DGM team.Technically, I think this could work as an original story too, But for that it'd need to be revamped quite a bit.But if you wanna take a look at it, I've written 11 chapters, they're on AO3. I recently reread them and I still quite enjoy it even though this is almost 6 years old. I love the characters, I think they turned out very fun and endearing.
